Two diaries, one kept for the year 1869 by George W. Cook, age 19, of Bellows Falls, Vermont, and the other by his father, Ezra P. Cook, a carpenter, for the year 1873, also of Bellows Falls. George made only brief entries, detailing daily activities, mainly helping his father with carpentry or working in the local lumber mill. He also mentions some social activities, including attending a lyceum. Ezra made more lengthy entries in the first half of the diary and included the temperature in his entries for January and February, as well as some information on his daily activities. Most of the entries relate to his health.
